•  India surge into Azlan Shah final 
India beat Malaysia 2-1 in their final league match to set up a championship clash against Argentina at the Azlan Shah hockey tournament.
 
•  Paes-Robredo lose in Hamburg semis 
Leander Paes and Tommy Robredo lost 6-3, 3-6, 10-2 to second seeds Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor in the semi-final at Hamburg Masters.
 
•  Tim Montgomery sentenced to prison 
Former US Olympic sprinter Tim Montgomery was sentenced to 46 months in prison for his role in a cheque fraud scheme.
 
•  Nadal, Djokovic battle for No.2 
Novak Djokovic will take over as world number two if he beats Rafael Nadal in the semi-final of the Hamburg Masters.
 
•  Jeev makes the cut at Irish Open 
Shiv Kapur, Jyoti Randhawa failed to do so with scores of four-over 148 and seven-over 151. Frenchman Michael Lorenzo-Vera carded a second round of two-under 70 to post the leading score of six-under 138.
 
•  Paes-Robredo in Hamburg Masters semis 
Leander Paes and his Spanish partner Tommy Robredo scored a straight set victory over Ivan Ljubicic and R Soderling to storm into the doubles semi-finals of the Euro 2,270,000 Hamburg ATP Masters Series on Friday. The unseeded Indo-Spanish pair won 6-2, 7-6 (3) to set up a semi-final clash with the second seeded duo of Canadian D Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia, who downed fifth seeded combine of S Aspelin (Sweden) and James Knowles (Austria) 6-2 5-7, 10-8.
 
•  Wiiliams sisters bow out of Italian Open 
American fifth seed Serena Williams withdrew from her Italian Open quarter-final with French qualifier Alize Cornet on Friday because of a back injury, organisers said.
 
•  Djokovic, Federer in last four 
Holder Roger Federer scored a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 win over unseeded Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in the quarter-finals of the Hamburg Masters on Friday.
 
•  Disabled athlete Pistorius wins CAS appeal 
Double amputee Oscar Pistorius can try to qualify for the Beijing Olympics after winning his appeal against a ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the South African's lawyer said. The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) ruled in January that the runner could not compete with able-bodied athletes because the carbon-fibre blades attached to both legs gave him an advantage. The 21 year-old appealed to the CAS, which ruled in his favour on Friday.
 
•  Man City awarded UEFA Cup spot 
Manchester City will play in next season's UEFA Cup after England were awarded an extra spot in the competition for topping UEFA's Fair Play table.
